Grapes are sweet and delicious, rich in a variety of minerals, trace elements, fruit acid and other nutrients, which are favored by the public. A new study published in the American Journal of dental research found that regular eating grapes can also help prevent dental caries and make teeth stronger and healthier.

Dr. Anna bideland Rousseau, a researcher at the school of Dentistry of the University of Illinois, and her research team analyzed various components in grapes and compared them with tooth health. The results show that the natural chemicals in grapes help to strengthen teeth and enhance the strength of dental filling materials. This discovery is of great significance to protect tooth health and prevent tooth loss. The key ingredient comes from grape seeds. Scientists have found that grape seed extract is beneficial to promote blood circulation and improve heart function. The new study found that grape seed extract can not only strengthen dentin and strengthen teeth, but also prolong the life of composite resin fillers (dental fillers, which can only last for 5 ~ 7 years) and reduce the probability of tooth loss. Even with caries, grape seed extract helps to strengthen the remaining tooth structure and better fit with the filling material, so as to prolong the service life after tooth restoration.

Dr. Rousseau said that in addition to grape seed extract, regular eating of grapes (including raisins) also has a certain protective effect on teeth. The key reason is that some active substances in grapes can effectively inhibit the growth of bacteria in the mouth and protect the health of the mouth and teeth.
